Peñafrancia Fiesta 2025 Official Theme & Logo

The yellow central figure represents Ina, Our Lady of Pen afrancia, affectionately called "Ina" (Mother) by Bicolanos. She is portrayed as a nurturing and guiding presence, central to the faith of the Bicol region, and is venerated as the spiritual mother of all Bicolanos and pilgrims.

But Ina is not only for Bicolanos. She is Mother to All. This theme is in line with the Missionary Synodal Journey of the whole Church. We are called to be a Church that is open to all; a Church that seeks all and reaches out to all -especially in a time of diversity and plurality.

The phrase "Mother to All" also aligns with Mary's title as Mother of the Church (Mater Ecclesiae) and highlights her intercessory role in Catholic theology (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church

§§963-970).

Colored Human Figures:

Surrounding Ina are stylized human figures in blue, red, green, and yellow, inspired by the official logo of the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025 by the Vatican.

These figures symbolize the People of God, journeying together in unity, diversity, and faith.

They are arranged around the image of Ina like children joyfully playing around their mother.

The colors may represent various sectors:

Blue - Youth

Red - The passionate/laity

Green - Ecology and creation

Yellow - Joy and spirit

This visual reflects the Church's emphasis on synodality- "walking together" as one community (cf. Synod on Synodality, Vatican 2023).

THE CROSS - SYMBOL OF FAITH:

The brown cross represents faith, anchoring the people around Mary and Christ. It evokes the Paschal Mystery-Christ's death and resurrection-and affirms that faith is the foundation of Christian life. Faith is also the bedrock upon which Christian hope is built, particularly emphasized during Jubilee years.

The Anchor - Symbol of Hope:

515). anchor symbolizes hope, "which does not disappoint" (Romans "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." - Hebrews 6:19

In Christian iconography, the anchor signifies steadfast hope amid trials and God's unchanging love in the "stormy seas" of life. Its presence in the Peñafrancia logo connects the Jubilee Year's theme of Hope with local devotion and Marian intercession.

Waves or Waters:

The waves represent the Bicol River and the traditional fluvial procession of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, during which her image is carried on a pagoda across the river.

Spiritual Symbolism:

  • The journey through life's turbulent waters

  • Mary and faith guiding the faithful through life's storms

  • Echoes of baptismal water and the path toward renewal and grace
