5th Camino traces farther routes

The Camino de Peñafrancia (CDP) embarks on its fifth year with new paths, new spiritual director, and new partnerships as the pilgrimage starts on August 30, 2026 in Sorsogon City, Sorsogon, then proceeds through Albay and continues to Camarines Sur.

The pilgrimage culminates on September 11, 2026, coincides with the Traslacion and completes a 13-day spiritual journey.  The devotion grows in participation and spreads in church itineraries as the Diocese of Sorsogon and more parishes in Albay and Camarines Sur open their doors to the Marian pilgrimage.

This year, as Fr. Eugene Lubigan is appointed new Spiritual Adviser, the CDP also established its Board of Directors, lay advisers, and major committees. It likewise expanded its social media presence by launching its official website www.caminodepeñafrancia.org in order to increase responsiveness and encourage more participation. Past the goal of social media engagement, the Camino website is also directed to support both new and returning pilgrims by providing information on pilgrimage guidelines, online registration, and FAQ section.

After the pilgrimage the CPD will “undertake community service initiatives such as medical missions, livelihood talks, and school symposiums to raise awareness about the Camino de Peñafrancia,” said Kristine Eina Arroyo, president of CDP. She added that there will also be continuous spiritual and community-focused programs to be conducted throughout the year.
